Gabriel Fernandez was a bright and loving eight-year-old boy, from Pacoima, whose life was tragically cut short due to unimaginable abuse and systemic failures. His story, though deeply heartbreaking, has inspired a movement to bring awareness to the realities of child abuse and advocate for critical reforms.
The Gabriel Fernandez Foundation was established to honor Gabriel’s memory and transform the pain of his loss into a commitment for child abuse awareness, system reform, ongoing support and education for families.
Advocacy is a cornerstone of the foundation's mission. It highlights the importance of systemic accountability and reform. This powerful narrative is shared in the Netflix docuseries The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez. This six-part series chronicles the horrors Gabriel endured, the institutional negligence that failed him, and the voices of family members like Emily Carranza and Olivia Rubio, who tirelessly fight for justice in his name.
To learn more about Gabriel’s story and the issues the foundation seeks to address, we encourage you to watch The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez on Netflix. Through this story, honor is placed on Gabriel’s life and together we work toward a future where no child suffers as he did. To watch the trailer click here.
